How do I survive an Italian restaurant?
I’m trying to watch my weight, but am obligated to attend dinner at a fine Italian restaurant tonight. Which foods would be healthier, lower-calorie choices? I’ve heard that alfredos and other cream sauces are a no-no…
Just order a salad along with dinner. Use oil and vinegar (always a must at italian restaurants). That way you can eat your salad and fill up. Don’t forget to drink WATER. A glass of red wine is alright ( just one!) and it’s great on digestion. But you can order grilled chicken or fish with vegis.
It’s not THAT hard. I lived in Sicily for 4 years and ate all kinds of WONDERFUL food. But I just didn’t eat a lot of it. That’s the key to changing your eating habits. It’s not so much what, but how much. If you had pasta one time, no biggie. Just eat a single portion (like 1/3 of what they’ll probably serve you) and have your salad and water. You’ll do fine

Look for fish or chicken breasts. Italian food can be really healthy, if you look for something with lots of veggies and whole ingredients.
