What’s a great italian restaurant and BBQ Restaurant in St Louis?

will be traveling thru St Louis on my Summer Road trip. I stopped last year in St Louis and did the Busch Brewery Tour and the Arch. I also went to this restaurant called Giovanni’s over in the Hill and it wasn’t all that great. Can someone tell me of another great Italian restaurant better than Giovanni’s and not as dressy

I also hear BBQ Ribs are excellent there too? Are they as good as Memphis?

They don’t have a website but how about a 20 ounce pork steak with a salad that looks like a small chef salad and another side for about $12? There’s also pork kabobs and chicken kabobs that could easily feed 2 or 3 people. The grilled chicken has 3 half chicken breasts…at least a pound of chicken. There’s even a 20 ounce steak.

Pork steak is my favorite, but my dad like a huge hamburger with mushrooms on it…it’s on a small loaf of french bread and 2 meals. You get a lot of food for very small prices, and I’ve never had anything bad there.

I haven’t been here for a while, but this place ART & WARDY’S BOX LUNCH 221 N 8TH ST, ST LOUIS, MO (314) 436-9065 RESTAURANTS was really terrific when I worked downtown. This is a different location, but they’ve been all over that area. When they were on N11th, about a block from my office, there was usually a guy out on the sidewalk grilling right there on the sidewalk. Cheap.

Italian places I like: Candicci’s is the only dressy type. There are tons more restaurants on the hill that are really good and not expensive. I’m very fond of Rigattizi’s. My great grandmother used to make their ravioli. She lived right across the street, about 3 houses from the corner. Stop by Volpi’s for salami and other Italian delicacies, and say hi to my cousin Armando. My grandfather was a Volpi. Also Missouri Bakery has wonder Italian cookies.

  1. Zia’s on the Hill is a great, casual place to eat for Italian.
As for BBQ, I haven’t at very much of it in St. Louis

  3. Del Pietro’s on Hampton. Don’t know about BBQ but I’m going to say not. KC is known for BBQ, not St. Louis unless you are talking pork steaks.
