Pasta serving size at Italian Restaurants?

Hi,

I’m trying to watch my calorie intake and will be eating at a local Italian Restaurant tomorrow night. I will be odering Spaghetti in some sort of tomato sauce (no meat). Normally if I eat pasta at home I will measure about a cup but I can’t exactly do that in a restaurant. How should I measure it? Just eat half? Or what? And how many calories would you think to be in a restaurant sized spaghetti serve?

Eat till our satisfied. Maybe order a salad or something to fill up more so on.

  1. Eating out is the worst way to watch your calories

Pasta is so easy and simple… make it at home… learn how to boil pasta properly, and make some good sauces and you’ll save yourself a lot of money, and save your diet.

boil pasta in PLEANTY of salted water (i use atleast a gallon no matter how much pasta I’m making). do not add oil to the pasta… taste the pasta after a few mins and take it off the heat when it feels good in your mouth (preference is everything)

try this… toss some freshly strained pasta with some olive oil and freshly minced garlic… a few grinds of black pepper and sun dried tomatoes if you dare… They actually serve that at many Italian restaurants, but with MUCH more salt

  3. If you measure pasta at home, don’t you know what a cup looks like? I would take an actual cup measuring cup & get to know what that looks like…and eyeball it at the restaurant. Also, a coffee cup and soup cup at a restaurant is about 8 oz, that should help you eyeball it. Good luck!!
