Tools of the Foreclosure Trade
Inspecting foreclosed homes can be trickier than inspecting other homes for sale. By the time you get into a REO it’s likely that the water and power have been off for months.
Take a few common devices to make your inspection easier. I like to haul along a tool bag with a couple good flashlights, a tape measure, extra pens and paper, rubber gloves, digital camera (charged) and a jumpsuit.
Spelunking through crawl spaces that haven’t seen a human in years may be a necessity. Don’t do it in your business suit with a pack of matches. It’s likely you will have to check out dozens of forclosed homes before you find a deal. Having a toolkit with you at all times can make the process as efficient as possible.
