Does the pizza delivery man get the "delivery fee" you’re charged at checkout, or does the restaurant keep it?

Our family orders from Papa Johns pizza quite a bit, and we are always charged a delivery fee. I was wondering if that goes towards the tip or if the restaurant keeps that money?

Typically the delivery guy gets NONE of the delivery charge, only a small hourly wage plus tips, and has to pay for gas and maintenance on their vehicle themselves. Tip them. It DOES make a difference when the drivers are considering which pizzas to deliver first, and who can blame them?

  1. NO! The pizza guy gets tip plus minimum wage.

  2. It used to be that the pizza delivery person gets an hourly rate, then at the end of the night, when adding up all the tickets, they delivery person gets whats left over after adding up the total cost of all the pizza’s he/she delivered.

  3. I’m not 100% positive about this but I’m pretty sure that is a fee that the company itself gets to keep. I’ve heard of drivers getting a small part of it but I really doubt they get any of it. I think the drivers would greatly appreciate the tip..
I dont think the drivers get paid mileage if they have to drive their own car and not a company car..

  4. no, the company keeps that to offset the salaries of the drivers. but they still get minimum plus tips, and would appreciate whatever you could offer.
