I would say yes. That fee is probably for gas and car maintenance. I would give a few bucks extra.

I always still tip a couple dollars. Gas is high!!

Yes, especially if the driver doesn’t get any of that money. Ask if they do when ordering.

Yes, because the delivery fee goes right to the restaurant, not to the driver.

Yes – the driver should be tipped for efficient delivery and saving you the hassle of picking it up. The "fee" is for the restaurant and drivers don’t get paid very well so always tip for good service. The only time you shouldn’t tip is when the food arrives cold or looks like it was dropped or spilled. Good Luck!

Funny you should ask this question. I just had my first experience last night with a delivery service for a restaurant. Not only did I have to pay for the food, but the ‘delivery’ service as well. On top of that, my order was incorrect and the service called me back 3 or 4 times to tell me what the restaurant did not have. I did offer a $3.00 tip, but I learned a lesson. I won’t use the service ever again. I’d rather drive to the restaurant and deal with them directly.

Yes….the restaurant charges that to help pay for the time an employee is out ofthe restaurant. One restaurant near me charges $1.50 for delivery….they keep $1.00 and give the driver 50 cents. I always throw in a few bucks for the driver…he/she has to pay for gas and maintenance of his/her vehicle.

I once had a pizza delivery person come back and knock on the door after a couple of minutes because we only gave him enough for the food and delivery charge, he asked for a tip once he realized there was only like $.50 worth in the money after the charge..I was so angry! The nerve.
The fact that it isn’t required but is EXPECTED makes me feel guilty, so I usually will tip a couple bucks, even though that IS THEIR JOB!
I mean, I don’t get tipped when I give a customer a good price on a unit and then ship it to them on time! Maybe I should start requiring a tip.
Now, I ask before I order anything to be delivered if there is a delivery fee…and if there is, I don’t order from them.

I dont.
If they just charge me the set pricing, I will give a decent tip for the drivers time, but I wont pay twice. If the driver doesnt get the delivery fee, he should find a better place to work.
Just like if I am having a group thing at a restaurant, and get charged a gratuity on the check. I dont leave the serving staff any thing else. If I didnt get great service, I will spend a few minutes letting the manager and servers know that I didnt appreciate the service.

Look at the reciept, if it has the fee for the driver, you definately do not have to give tips for the driver.

No. The delivery fee should cover their tips.
