Why do you have to tip the delivery driver if the restaurant already charges a "delivery charge"?

You are tipping for the next time. So they won’t spit in your pizza the next time. Or that they drive a little faster so your pizza won’t be cold the next timt.
I used to work @ Papa Johns as a cashier…as for the drivers- the delivery charge is to make sure they get at least some type of tip to cover their gas usage. At the end of the night…if they did like 15 deliveries…they get $15 for gas. When u actually tip them…it helps them to add more $ to there gas tanks.
