Oh To Sleep the Sleep of the Dead
For the last two decades I have suffered from insomnia. It is such a frustrating condition and it causes a lot of wear and tear on the body. While some people are sleeping that deep sleep of REM, I am wide awake. I am lying prone on my bed while others sleep the sleep of the dead. This doesn’t give my body time to repair free radical damage properly and I certainly don’t wake up refreshed and ready to leap into the day! My problem started with the development of bad sleep habits when my spouse worked nights, and I have never been able to overcome it. Sleep aids make me feel horrid and drugged so I don’t use them. I have tried lights on and off, TV on and off, but nothing seems to help. The only thing that will make me sleep soundly is never getting sleep for days. Then- bang! Lights off!
